Question 1

What is Columbus Leather Edge Wax Stick used for?

Accepted Answer

Columbus Leather Edge Wax Stick is used as a final leather edge finish to smooth, protect and polish leather edges. It helps create a cleaner, more refined edge and can also be used as a thread wax to reduce friction during hand stitching.

Question 2

Should I use Tokonole before Columbus Leather Edge Wax?

Accepted Answer

Yes. For the best results on vegetable-tanned leather, burnish the edge with Seiwa Tokonole first to compact the leather fibres. Once the edge is dry, apply Columbus Leather Edge Wax Stick as the final finishing layer and buff for a smooth, polished edge.

Question 3

Can Columbus Leather Edge Wax Stick be used over Fenice Edge Paint?

Accepted Answer

Yes. After the Fenice Edge Paint has fully cured, Columbus Leather Edge Wax Stick can be applied as a final polishing step to improve smoothness, reduce drag and add a subtle sheen to the finished edge.

Question 4

Which colour should I choose?

Accepted Answer

Neutral is suitable for natural, tan and most leather colours. Black is recommended for black leather, while Dark Brown blends best with brown and darker vegetable-tanned leathers.

Question 5

Can Columbus Leather Edge Wax Stick be used as thread wax?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The wax can be lightly applied to hand-stitching thread to reduce friction, helping the thread glide more smoothly through leather during saddle stitching.

Question 6

Is Columbus Leather Edge Wax Stick made in Japan?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Columbus Leather Edge Wax Stick is manufactured in Japan by Columbus and is supplied by Sneaky Leather Supply Co. as a authentic imported product.
